The Ins and Outs of the LU, Episode 25

It's Wednesday! You know what that means; no, not the stupid commercial with the camel, it means Lucha Underground is on tonight. Starting at 8 p.m. on the El Rey Networ/k, masked men will be doing springboard dives, Alberto El Patron will be taunting Johnny Mundo, Dario Cueto will be screwing someone over, Vampiro will be running around ringside lost in ecstasy and there's the possibility of something like this happening.

Still awesome. Always awesome.

Yes, it's the best night of the week for wrestling fans (yes, it's better than RAW), and starting today, I'm going to give you more LU Wednesday and Thursday/exs. One week removed from one of the best episodes ever and with two matches known for a fact to be happening tonight, I thought it would be good to take a closer look at the best promotion in wrestling today. Thus, we're going to be breaking down Fenix vs. Killshot and the Title vs. Career match between Prince Puma and Drago. Get it? Got it? Good. Let's not waste time. ON WITH THE SHOW!

Fenix vs. Killshot

What to Expect: A whole lot of time in the air. Sure, that's usually the case for most LU matches, but this one especially will be. There's also some serious intrigue for me here though. For Killshot, the former Shane Strickland as it were, this will be his first singles match in the Temple after two impressive performances in the Trios tournament. And this will only be the second match for Fenix since he and Mil Muertes put on the greatest performance since Ed Norton in Kingdom of Heaven. Can they top their previous stuff and the main event? Will Catrina still remained involved with Fenix even though the issue with Mil is resolved? Is the issue with Mil really resolved? One way or another, I expect this to be a tour de force, and would be my pick for match of the night if Drago-Puma didn't have so much story behind it.

Winner: A tough one. Fenix is the bigger deal of the two, but Killshot has positioned well next to Big Ryck and The Mack and can use a win to establish himself. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say Killshot gets the win after interference. Whether it's from Big Ryck, The Mack or Catrina is the question, as you can go many ways with either option. By the way, what does someone have to do to get The Mack vs. Fenix? Can you imagine what those could do in the ring together? How soon can we get Dario Cueto to manipulate this match into existence?!

It's like he's staring into your soul!

Lucha Underground Championship vs. Career
Prince Puma (c) vs. Drago

What to Expect: An emotional power struggle between two of the more liked competitors in the Temple. A recap of the story for newbies; Drago had been competing with Aerostar in a best of five series for "unique opportunity" as Cueto would call it. What was the opportunity? A chance for the LU championship, but with the possibility of being kicked out of the Temple if defeated. Drago would prevail over Aerostar two weeks ago, and will now battle for his career against Puma, who is having increased tension with his mentor Konnan and Konnan's buddy Hernandez. It's not Hamlet, but it's certainly better than anything Uwe Boll or Stephanie Myer has put out recently.

And like I said, it'll make for an emotional story. I expect Drago will portray the most desperate of luchadores, doing everything he can (legal or not) to take the LU title and save his place in the Temple. I wouldn't be shocked to see Puma do the same; none of his title defenses have been convincing recently, especially since Hernandez arrived on the scene. This is a match for him to prove his mantle, and I expect to see both him and Drago bring a ton of intensity to the bout. It could be special. As special as last week's main event or Grave Consequences? I guess we're just going to have to find out.

Winner: I expect we'll see more interference here, and I'm tempted to go with Drago picking up the win following Hernandez turning on Puma. Alas, it's a little too soon for that, so I'll say Hernandez helps Puma beat Drago, sending him out of the Temple and continuing the slow build towards Hernandez and Puma (who will obviously disapprove of Hernandez' antics). Don't fear guys, Drago won't be gone for long.

That'll do it guys. I'll be back tomorrow with a review of the show. Till then, watch Lucha Underground tonight, go Bucks, go Wings, tell the Cleveland Browns that trading two first round picks for Marcus Mariotta is a bad idea, read Kleck's Daily review of Extreme Rules on the LOP forums, save the last slice of pizza, try the Pepsi machine, and brace yourselves, DUCHOVNY is coming!
